A-G-A (Austria, Germany, Alsace) 2025 6-pack Sampler #2 - Austria & Alsace Whites

$ 45.500 $ 64.500

   The Wines of Austria, Germany & Alsace - 6 Bottle Sampler #2 - Austria & Alsace, Whites & Rose

A $64.5 value for just $45.5

Sampler #1 had a lot of German wines in it, therefore #2 is going to focus on Austria and Alsace.  Two Gruner Veltliners, a Rose, a Pinot Blanc and two White Blends inside this one.  Again, the wines on the drier side.

Sampler includes one bottle each:

Stift Klosterneuberg Abbey Sparkling Gruner Veltliner Brut (Austria) - We think this is one of the best Champagne method sparkling wines available under $10 and we're excited that it is back just in time for A-G-A Month at Taylor's.  It impresses with its delicate mousseux, fruity-spicy aromas on the nose and fine yeast notes on the palate. An elegant sparkling wine, multi-layered, with an unmistakable Austrian style.

Joseph Cattin "Sauvage" Pinot Blanc (Alsace) - The Sauvage line is Cattin's newest line crafted using organically farmed fruit and only the native/savage yeast for the fermentation.
Slow, gentle pressing avoids crushing the stalks and pips to minimize extracting bitter flavors and tannins and is followed by slow, natural fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, generally lasting from four to 10 weeks. The nose shows apricot, brioche and a touch of fresh lemon. On the palate it shows pleasant acidity with apricot, honeysuckle and dash of spice tones, then a nice long stony finish.

Paul D Rose 1L (Austria) - We're really excited that this producer is back on the shelves and until the fresh vintage of his always amazing Gruner Veltliner arrives in a few months, Paul D fans can enjoy his tasty Rose.  Featuring two quintessentially Austrian red grapes. Zweigelt and its lesser-known half-brother, Blauburger, have less than a century of existence under their belts, but that doesn’t deter them from fueling this light-bodied, clean, flavorful Rosé with spry wisdom and vibrant energy.

Hermann Moser "Green Eyes" Gruner Veltliner (Austria) - Through 400 years and 26 generations the Moser family has been making wine in the village of Rohrendorf in the Kremstal wine-growing region in Lower Austria. Light in color, crisp and refreshing, Hermann Moser’s Green Eyes Grüner Veltliner is a textbook example of Austria's signature white wine with an appealing bouquet of freshly picked pears mingled with a hint of spice for which Grüner Veltliner is renowned. Appetizing and lively in the mouth, Moser’s Green Eyes goes down easily, but not before treating the taste buds to an appetizing burst of citrus and clean mineral flavors that leave the mouth begging for more.

Cave de Turckheim Cuvee Charlotte Vin D'Alsace (Alsace) - Cave de Turckheim is situated in the pretty village of Turckheim, Alsace, just slightly northwest of Colmar. Firmly established as one of the best co-operatives in the world, Cave de Turckheim always pays the utmost respect for the wine, combining rigor, know-how and patience with the latest technology.  A classic Alsace blend of Pinot Blanc - Pinot Gris - Gewurztraminer. The palate is lively and combines the freshness of Pinot Blanc with the mellow side of Pinot Gris and the spice of Gewurztraminer.

Alexander Zahel "Original Eigenbau" Wiener Gemischter Satz (Austria) - Vienna is the only European capital with a wine-growing regions within city limits, its 700 hectares roughly the same size as Meursault.  Alex Zahel is the only Demeter-certified biodynamic producer in the region, and the first regenerative- certified winegrower in Austria.  Gemischter Satz is the famous field blend grown within Vienna that consists of the six "noble" grape varietals grown in the region - Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Traminer and Chardonnay. Gemischter Satz must be grown together within Vienna, then picked on the same day, this electric white by winemaker Alexander Zahel is then co-fermented dry using only native, wild yeasts.  This fresh white is crisp with a firm body and a generous acidity that accentuates green and yellow fruit notes. Think lime blossom, green apple, and wet limestone that are all perfectly balanced.
